Referee Charef removed from Club World Cup 2018

Algerian referee Mehdi Abid Charef was removed from the list of match officials selected by FIFA for the Club World Cup, according to Ennahar, quoting sources close to the Algerian FA (FAF).
The latter allegedly received correspondence from FIFA confirming the sanction against Abid Charef. His controversial performance in the first leg of the African Champions League final has definitely cost him a lot.
Algerian assistant referee Abdelhak Etchiali, part of Charef’s trio, is also concerned by this sanction, according to the same source. These decisions follow a Tunisian report against the Algerian referee after his performance in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final.
